Our Homeschool Clay Club is a fun and hands-on pottery course designed especially for home-educated children. Held in our welcoming pottery studio, each session gives young makers the chance to explore clay and develop their creativity while learning a range of pottery techniques.
The club runs in four-week blocks, each focusing on a different skill and project - you can join any block without having attended the previous one. Children are welcome to pick and choose the courses that interest them most.
Block 1 - Coiling & Pinching : Vase
Learn the basics of hand-building with clay using coiling and pinching techniques. Children will design and create their own vase form, refining their skills and adding surface decoration to make each piece unique.
Block 2 - Sculpting: Animal Candlestick Holder
Explore sculpting with clay to create a playful animal candlestick holder. This block focuses on shaping, joining, and adding character and detail through texture and form.
Block 3 - Throwing: Plates & Bowls (Max 4 people)
An introduction to the pottery wheel! Children will learn how to centre, throw, and shape clay on the wheel to make simple plates and bowls, then refine and decorate their finished pieces.
Block 4 - Slabbing: Desk Organiser
Discover how to build with clay using slab techniques. Children will design and construct their own desk organiser, learning how to plan, join, and decorate their piece for a fun and functional final design.
